I have just started the course "Introduction to Entrepreneurship" at BYU Idaho. I have never desired to own my own busines...in fact, the idea of the lack of security has always scared me. I like the group health insurance, paid time off, and lack of risk that one has working for a large corporation.
I have discovere, however, that I love to work with small business owners. I like to help them succeed. I have learned that I make a good support person, and it's what I enjoy. I like to do all the tedious administrative things that many people find, well, tedious. I like knowing I've helped someone else. I like a project completed.
So now I've decided that a great career for me IS a small business...but a small business that I run from my home, which is acting as a consultant to help other small business owners succeed. To do that, I need to know how to start and operate a small business, but I don't have to take the risk. I get to be their advisor and helper, while I do not have to take the financial risk of investing or creating a unique, in-demand product.
I hope this course will give me insights into how to find clients, as well as how to best support them in their business ventures. We'll see where this journey takes me!
